I got no money so I'm out on the street Can't find a dentist and I'm losing my teeth Had it up to here and it's all I can take, I need a break! Lord, bless my soul Haven't got a jacket and it's getting mighty cold I used to have the world on a string Now I ain't got a single thing But I know what I've gotta do Listen up now, I'm gonna tell you I used to have the world on a string Now I ain't got a single thing But I know what I've gotta do I'm gonna shake those bad luck blues. If you wanna lose the blues like leaves in the fall Open up your ears cuz I know it all When the world gets you down, you'll know what to do Just shake those bad luck blues!
2.
Now, won't you listen to me while I say How can you tell me that you're going away? Don't say that we must part Don't you break my aching heart You know I've loved you truly many a year I've loved you night and day How can you leave me, honey, can't you see my tears Now listen to me while I say After you've gone, and left me crying After you've gone, there's no denying You'll feel blue, you'll feel sad, you'll miss the bestest pal you've ever had There'll come a time, now don't forget it There'll come a time when you'll regret it Someday, when you've grown lonely Your heart will ache like mine, you'll want me only After you've gone After you've gone away After you've gone, after the break up After you've gone, you're gonna wake up You will find, you were blind, to let somebody come and change your mind After the years, we've been together Joy and the tears, all kinds of weather Some day, blue and down-hearted You'll long to be with me right back where you started After you've gone After you've gone away.

Stuck home 'cause there's nowhere to go The hands on the clock are moving mighty slow Ran out of options, too troubled to think Guess I'll make us both a drink Never felt so blue on a Saturday night So I'm cracking open bottled and it's feeling so right Drinking alone just ain't dignified That's why I'm glad you're here by my side. Let's turn up the music, tune the whole world out Then slide over here, that's what I'm talking about Maybe it's best if we just stay in bed It's high time we opened that bottle of red! Forget your woes baby, come dance with me Let's knock 'em back and push off reality Actually there's no place that I'd rather be than Stuck home getting tight with you!

I could walk around for days With my head in a dreamy haze People see me, just pass me by Never bother to catch my eye It's so lonely here at night Want somebody to hold me tight Someone to call my own Someone to drive me home But they don't know my name I'd say it's a shame Nobody cares for me I'm just as lonesome as I can be.

I drove down to the valley, to say my last goodbye The miles passed by slowly, old memories drifting by He was laid out cold and yellow, with tired bloodshot eyes The drink had done its damage, made him hard to recognize. I lit us two more cigarettes, as he strained to rise We sat in silence for a spell, the smoke got in my eyes We talked a bit of days gone by, and of things that would never be "You did the best you could", I said, I knew he'd soon be free. He'd chased a young man's dreams, to travel and to roam But left behind two growin' boys who had to find their own Old man, old man, your time had nearly come, that's some life you've led You broke some hearts along the way, they'll remember you when you're dead. Don't let the sins of the father, weight down upon you son You've got to make your own way, until your judgement comes And as I stood to take my leave, when there was nothing more to say He cried out "Son, now don't you grieve, when I'm gone let those damn horns play!"

Tonight I'm gonna find some trouble to get in Tonight I'm gonna try to commit a sin Tonight I'm gonna drink me a bathtub full of gin And try to forget the mess I'm in. My baby she done left me for another man (another man) My boss she wants to toss me in the can (in the can) The bank they want to take me for everything I own But I ain't gonna let them take this here trombone! It's Friday night and I'm looking to get loaded (let's get loaded) On Saturday, I'm hoping to get high (high, high, high) On Sunday, I'll just lay in bed and try to soothe my achin' head On Monday, I'll give life another try. I've lived enough, you'd think that I'd know better (you should know better) But that just ain't the way my story goes (story goes) I'm just a man with a big ol' and a bigger appetite And I doubt I'm gonna change, the good Lord knows!

What's the use in sayin', I don't know if they'll hear Ain't no point in prayin', I fear there's nothing there Something's pulling at me, like a puppet on a string Why must they attack me? I'm just tryin' to do my thing Well, I guess I'll wait for the day, wait for the day you come around (around) And drag me out, drag me out of this town (town) I'll never look back, "Never Look Back", I say (say) I'm gonna swing with my baby "till my dyin' day What's the use in lyin', I know when you ain't true Ain't no point in cryin', or hung up being blue Searching for salvation, you gotta dig in deep Life's an invitation and I ain't losin' sleep Well, I guess I'll wait for the day, wait for the day you come around (around) And drag me out, drag me out of this town (town) I'll never look back, "Never Look Back", I say (say) I'm gonna swing with my baby "till my dyin' day

These are the words my Mama'd say When she'd see folks in a bad way There but for the grace of God go I I'm reminded from time to time That life can be cruel and unkind There but for the grace of God go I But if our fates are sealed And His plan shall be revealed Why let the lonely ones get lost along the way? They say that if you've got love You've got more than enough There but for the grace of God go I

It's been a long three years since you went away I still think about you most everyday Though I've tried to stay brave and strong My new man, well, he treats me wrong. My new man, yes, he makes me cry We just don't see things eye to eye And most everything that he do Just reminds me, I still love you! I'm stuck with a new man and I'm blue For eight sweet years, honey, I loved you My new man he's unkind and untrue Now I'm stuck with a new man and I'm blue. This new guy has really got me down And I'm tired of him acting like a clown I wish that you had stayed by my side Because now I'm on a very bumpy ride. My new man, he's as mean as can be And he's losing touch with reality! Everything that he say Seems to come off the wrong way! I'm stuck with a new man and I'm blue For eight sweet years, honey, I loved you My new man he's unkind and untrue Now I'm stuck with a new man and I'm blue.

I hate to see that evening sun go down Yes I hate to see that evening sun go down Because the man I love has gone and left this town Feeling tomorrow like I've been feeling today Yes, I'll be feeling tomorrow like I've been feeling today I guess I'll pack up my trunk and make my get-away St. Louis woman, with that diamond ring She pulls that man around with her apron strings And if it wasn't for powder or that store bought hair The man I love, he wouldn't go nowhere, nowhere! I got the St. Louis blues I'm as blue as I can be That man has a heart Like a rock cast in the sea Or else he wouldn't have gone so far away from me Now I love that man, Like a school boy loves his pie Like a Kentucky colonel likes mint in his rye I'm gonna love that man Until the day I die

Calico 03:56
Folks, here's a story 'bout Calico One of those girls who just couldn't say no Boys would line up from tallest to small She couldn't choose so she'd just have them all. Others would whisper with such foul breath That she was crude and lacked finesse She never cared 'bout a word they said She'd grab her guy and then run off to bed! All the boys would cling to her Sometimes they would sing to her And offer shiny things to her In hopes of a kiss or a moment of bliss Calico's heart was wild and delightful When they caught sight, men would beg and they'd cry Then she'd say something really insightful Like, "I'm in the mood, won't you give me a try?" Calico's eyes could penetrate steel Sharp as a knife, yes, she was the real deal One look from her and you knew her intentions Though, she didn't follow the normal conventions. Looked like an angel, swore like a sailor I waited my turn, hoping one day I'd nail her My wish came true, much to my delight She took me home on one hot summer night! Calico, Calico, I wanted her more than she'd ever know Calico, Calico, I still see her in my dreams Some tried to tame her, some tried to shame her Some tried to claim her with little success Me, I sit grinning, happy to have been One of the many to take off her dress!
